Fashionista

My Addie has turned into a fashion loving, big bow wearing girly-girl.  She was tomboy for her first 5 years but that has all changed, especially since we moved to Texas.  She is obsessed with hair styles and clothes and wants to go shopping with me every weekend.  Much to my dismay, her favorite store is Justice.  I hate that store and veto almost everything she picks out.  Since when are 8 year olds supposed to dress like teen agers?

Addie has been going through some rough times.  She has lots of anxiety which started in Georgia (way before we knew about the move) and has gotten much worse over the past year.  We finally have an appointment next week to help her deal with some of her emotions and I cannot wait to get started!  I just want her to get back to her happy self - it has been a long time coming!

Still Here!

I took a longer than expected blog break.  It has been so hard to get in the groove of regular postings.  We have been busy the last month and I am going to start with the most recent things (today being a good place to start!) and hopefully catch up one of these days!

Today was my day off and I realized I only have 3 more Thursdays before the triplets are out of school for the summer.  I decided to take advantage and get some alone time with Nole.  We headed to the zoo and got there when they first opened this morning.  It was glorious!  The weather was beautiful and it was nearly empty except for several elementary school field trips.  We had the best day!

His favorite thing was the train that takes to from the front of the zoo to the back.  We rode it twice and he could have ridden it 100 more times!
(Never mind that he is wearing his pajama top!)

We found the real Mr. Grumpy Stripes!

He was so well behaved (for the most part) and loved having me all to himself.  We left around 1:30 and we didn't get out of the zoo parking lot before he fell sound asleep.  It was a morning very well spent with my sweet little man!

8

The triplets turned 8 on Monday and our day started with cupcakes and cookies for breakfast!  Our little town has a shed on the main street that is always painted for birthdays.  We surprised the kids and had one side painted for them.  It is such a cute idea and the kids were excited to see their names.    After school, we went out for a dinner at a place of their choice and for the first time ever, they all wanted the same place!  We went to Uncle Julio's and then back to our house for cake.  Instead of a party this year, they wanted to go to Great Wolf Lodge so we will be doing that in the next few weeks.

It is so hard for me to believe that my babies are 8 already.  Ten more short years and they will be ready to move out and start college.  How can that be!!!???  I sure do love each of them and am thankful that they are each so unique and individual.  Happy birthday sweet babies!

Sunday, Sunday

It is a cold and rainy Sunday and the perfect time to be at home spending time with the family.  We did venture out for a little while and went to Granbury to have lunch at Babe's Chicken Dinner House.  It was so yummy and everyone was so sweet!  We had the best waitress and left with our tummies very full!

They seated us under a gazebo that was covered in lights and Addie sat in the big chair.  She thought it was very cool!

Nole wanted to climb the gazebo!

Finn and Brian were there too but I didn't get any pictures of either of them.  We are back home and in for the rest of the afternoon.  I predict there will be a movie and lots of cuddle time in our future today!

Thursdays

Thursday is my day off and I look forward to it every week!  Sometimes I keep Nole home with me while the triplets are in school and other times, I drop him off at his school and have a me day.  I haven't had a me day in a really long time so today was the day!  I got a pedicure, had a great lunch (highly recommend Torchy's Tacos!), and went to my favorite architectural salvage place in Ft Worth.

I'm also catching up on a little blogging from the past few weeks.

I make my coffee every morning and a few weeks ago when I went to fill my grinder with beans, I jumped when I saw the creepy crawly who greeted me.  I assumed one of the boys put the toy spider in my coffee but they swore they didn't do it.  Brian finally fessed up - I guess some boys never lose the 7 year old they once were!

I have since thrown this spider away!  Don't want to take a chance of that happening again!

On St Patrick's Day, Addie wanted to be a leprechaun so she tied her hair around her face to make a beard.  She makes a pretty cute leprechaun!

Okay - now onto today!  Brian took the kids to school this morning so Nole and I got to hang out for a little while at home before I got going for the day.  I love mornings like that - quiet house and a little snuggle time before everything starts.

He ate Nutella on raisin toast and was so happy.  He was singing and talking and loved being an only child for a while!

After I took him to school, I headed over to the salvage place to find something for over our bed.  Our bed frame is a barn door (I'll have to do a house tour soon!) and I fell in love with this piece!  Brian will be shaking his head when he sees this - he doesn't understand my love for old things (especially when he is challenged with hanging them!).

It was more than I wanted to spend and I really didn't want glass but I have been thinking about it since I left it hanging there in the store.  I just might have to go back and get it next Thursday!

Baseball Begins

The boys are into another baseball season and have had 3 games so far (they are 2-1).  One of their friends from their class is on their team and they have a great coach.  Their team is the Rangers which they think is pretty cool and if it weren't for the fact that it needs to be washed frequently, Finn would wear his jersey ever single day!

 Finn at bat

Beckett running the bases

They are both really good players.  Their hitting has improved (especially Beckett) and they both love to play catcher.  I love that they have fun with their team during practice and games.  Their schedule keeps us busy but it is a good busy and I am so thankful that Spring has finally sprung - at least in Texas!

Happy Birthday to Nole

Sweet Nole Dawson turned 3 on March 7th!  He is becoming such a little boy now - so hard to believe he is already 3!  He got up early on his birthday (around 6:00) which is unusual for him.  We had been talking about his birthday for a while but I don't really think he understood what/when it was until he came downstairs and saw his balloons and decorations!  I had a big Lightning McQueen balloon and 3 latex balloons tied to his chair and other decorations from Cars tied to the chandelier.  He was so excited when he saw everything and said "it's my birthday!!"

We had a few presents for him that represented everything he loves at the moment:

 Chuggington

Little Einsteins - he is obsessed with Little Einsteins and asks to watch it as soon as he gets up every morning.  We got him a DVD so we can now watch it in the car too.

 And of course Lightning McQueen.

I stayed home with him all day and we had a small party for him that night with Pop Pop, Hye Soon, and our neighbors.  He got a Lightning McQueen cake and was so happy all day!  Here are some things he is up to at age 3:

  • We are working on potty training!  He does pretty good when we are home (we are not quiet ready to venture out without a diaper) and we found his motivation is little toy cars.

  • He is so cute when he hears a sound he doesn't recognize!  He will stop whatever he is doing and say "what's that sound?"

  • He loves riding his tricycle around the neighborhood and he calls it his motorcycle.  He asks to go for a walk several times a day and I just have to say yes because he is so cute!

  • He is content playing at home and racing his cars, trucks and trains around the house.  Our lives are so busy, I love when we can have time at home and just let him play!

  • Nole is still sleeping in his crib and can climb out of he wants but he never does.  We will probably transition him into a bed in the next few months but he loves his crib!

  • Speaking of his crib, we still read Polar Express every night and most nights we don't make it to the end before he asks to go to bed!  He doesn't nap most days so he is ready for sleep by the time we start reading his stories!
We are so blessed to have this sweet boy!
